Infiniti’s high-give-up cruiser has all the luxurious points clients want in a big SUV, even providing a smooth trip and lots of strength to make your adventure in style. Perhaps the QX80’s biggest obstacle is its company cousin, Nissan Armada, a nearby twin SUV for approximately $20,000 less. Outside its lineup, there are also mounted imports that have held swagger for many years. But we liked the trip and coping with the QX80 Limited, a new trim stage with high-quit materials for the duration and its own set of outdoor colors.
The base Luxe trim ($66,700) and Limited proportion have a 400 horsepower, seven-pace automated transmission with adaptive shift control. Our QX80 tester delivered a hydraulic body movement management system and rear self-leveling suspension. In our unbiased testing, the QX80 completed the zero-to-60 run in 6. Nine seconds, slower than maximum competitors.
The QX has a hill-begin assist for off-roading, an underneath radiator-hooked-up skidplate, and a whopping 9.Three inches of ground clearance. The towing capacity is 8,500 kilos, even though we suspect neither of those functions will get a lot of use. This is greater than a suburban SUV for hauling kids, staff, and dogs.
However, the 2019 version is mostly a carryover from the final year, with the new Limited’s hefty $ ninety-one 450 decals. But as you will count on, the Limited is loaded with tech gadgets and gently stitched leathers, wood accents, stainless steel strolling forums, and 22-inch aluminum alloys.
With second-row captain’s chairs, the QX80 is a comfy seven-seater, even though a second-row bench seat will change out to elevate that quantity via one. We observed that the energy in the third-row seats took some time to fold while the second-row seats dropped like a rock under electronic pressure.
The Tcargorgo area behind the 1/3 row is beneficial and at the top of its rivals. Not so with ordinary interior panache. While the substances are highly fine, the device panel and infotainment system are dated compared to the competition.
We did like the ease of voice control for navigation factors. The machine recognizes points throughout the map as always the primary time, a rare occurrence for this feature. The QX80 is clean cruising on the road, although downshifting in passing maneuvers took a while to fasten inside the right equipment. The cabin is quiet on lengthy highway journeys or simply around the corner. Although the QX80 is extensive and its heft needs plenty of space to maneuver, Beware of mall parking masses. Forget approximately parallel parking.
The Infiniti is for emergency braking, ahead collision caution, and pedestrian detection. Also available are blind-spot caution, rear pass visitors alert, and adaptive cruise, which slows to a halt in visitors but then releases.
Shopping in this mega-sized luxurious SUV segment merits cautious analysis before choosing the right set of wheels. The Mercedes-Benz CLS 450, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX, and Armada are primary competitors.

Crash-test scores: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Infiniti QX80 four stars, usually in a 5-star rating; three stars out of five for driver aspect and three for passenger safety in a frontal collision of two comparable vehicles traveling at 35 miles in line with hour; 5 stars for mixed side barrier and pole rating and three stars for rollover protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet rated the QX80.
