Donald Gene Peterson, age 87, was handed away in Bellingham on June 22, 2019. He was born on May 20, 1932, in Tacoma to August and Mary Peterson. Don graduated from Bellarmine Prep earlier than serving within the U.S. Navy throughout the Korean conflict. He met his future spouse, Patty Grady, at Seattle University, where he graduated with an enterprise diploma and worked as a supervisor in the responsibility-loose industry in diverse states along the border before settling down in Sumas. During his time in Sumas, he served in the metropolis government for 12 years and one time period as mayor. Don became very energetic in the community, concerned about constructing a playground, and served at the neighborhood meal bank for many years. Don loved pursuing his pursuits, including tours, photography, fowl-looking, spending time at sea, and walking at the seaside. He had numerous loved-looking dogs over time.
Don was predeceased by his mother and father, August and Mary; siblings Joseph Peterson, Charles Peterson, Shirley Prescott, Colleen Jones, Marie Bays, and Eileen Peterson.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Patty; son Kyle Peterson; daughter Nicole (husband KC) McCoy; grandchildren Brittany, Colby, and Tyler Peterson, Morgan Benjamin, and Luke Lucy McCoy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
